From Cinema to Classroom: Methodology of Teaching Film Art
A two-day workshop programme dedicated to the methodology of teaching film art. Using examples from accomplished film titles and a theoretical framework, the participants will acquire a methodological tool they can apply in organizing film-themed school lessons, either in a Croatian language classroom or as a teaching material for other subjects and cross-subject topics. The programme is suitable for Croatian language, as well as art and art history teachers, early educators, school librarians, students of didactics and methodology studies and all training and education professionals using film and media in their work. This year’s edition of the workshop is focused on different poetics and types of presentation in short documentary film, while a special portion of the program will be devoted to analysing a fun and interesting fiction feature for children that will soon have a theatrical release in Croatian cinemas.
Since 2016, the KinoKino Festival has strived to stay up to date with the implementation of the national curricular reform, building a long-term cooperation between the audiovisual and educational sectors. With that in mind, the workshop program From Cinema to Classroom has been developed with the aim of raising the quality and quantity of film-related classroom content and the level of professional training in cinematic art and media culture. The lecturers are experts in the field of cinematic education and film literacy, Ana Đordić and Uroš Živanović.
